About Pranava Yoga
At Pranava Yoga, we believe that yoga is more than just physical postures—it’s a journey toward union and self-discovery that integrates body, mind, and spirit. Founded by a certified yoga teacher trained in a revered school of Rishikesh, India, our practice is rooted in ancient wisdom and timeless teachings. While my certification from Rishikesh marks a significant milestone, my journey into yoga’s profound depths extends far beyond formal training. Over the years, I have immersed myself in various modalities, ultimately discovering wisdom in the ancient texts of India that goes beyond the tangible aspects of yoga.
At the heart of Pranava Yoga is the commitment to teaching yoga as a holistic practice. My personal understanding of yoga transcends the physical asanas; it encompasses the rich philosophy and metaphysical principles that define the true essence of yoga. The Sanskrit word ‘yoga’ means ‘union,’ and it is this union of the self to a higher self, God, Universe, Atman or supreme consciousness that I seek to share with my students.
While I honor the value of physical postures and possess a deep understanding of them, I also strive to guide individuals towards a more profound exploration of yoga. By aligning the physical body through asanas, we create a foundation from which one can delve into the deeper dimensions of yoga. This approach allows us to appreciate the physical benefits of yoga while also embracing its spiritual and philosophical aspects.
At Pranava Yoga, I aim to hold a nurturing space for individuals to explore and experience yoga beyond the asanas. Whether you are a beginner just stepping onto the mat or a seasoned practitioner seeking to deepen your practice, Pranava Yoga welcomes you. Together, we can refine your physical practice and embark on a journey of self-discovery and inner tranquility. Pranava Yoga offers a sanctuary for all, where the journey of union begins with breath, posture, and connection.

Insights from Patanjali's Yoga Sutras
In the Yoga Sutras, Patanjali defines yoga as “yogas chitta vritti nirodha,” meaning yoga is the cessation or stilling of the fluctuations of the mind (vrittis) within consciousness (chitta). The mind, often referred to as chitta, is essentially a collection of thoughts and mental activities. However, this mental activity is limited and confines us to a narrow realm of experience.
Yoga aims to transcend these limitations by creating a still surface in the mind, allowing us to move beyond thought and enter a state of being that is free from the conditions and distractions of mental activity. It is through this stillness that we can explore deeper aspects of consciousness.
Embrace Balance with Pranayama
Pranayama, the practice of controlled breathing, is a powerful tool to balance our mental activity, helping us to focus on something greater than the mind and body. By regulating the breath, Pranayama helps quiet the mind, promoting inner stillness and facilitating a deeper connection.
Pranayama are offered as part of the classes, providing you with practical tools to enhance your practice and daily life. If you’re interested in learning more about Pranayama or would like to incorporate these techniques into your yoga journey, please feel free to reach out to me.
